Chris Costello CFP®

President

Chris, a Kansas native through and through, was raised in Olathe before pursuing higher education at the University of Kansas, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1995. He currently calls Overland Park home, sharing his life with his wife, Jenny, to whom he’s been married for 27 years, and their two daughters, Claire and Kylan.

Chris has almost 30 years of experience as a financial advisor and entrepreneur with a passion for helping people better manage their investments and optimize their financial wellness.

Over the past 3 decades, he has co-founded and served as CEO of two financial services firms. First for The Retirement Planning Group, a Registered Investment Advisory firm that he grew from startup in 2004 to managing over $1 billion in client accounts at the time of his exit/sale in 2021.

In 2013 he co-founded and led blooom, a fintech Series B venture-backed company that built an automated, algorithm-driven do-it-for-you service for managing 401k/403b/TSP accounts. After growing blooom to serve nearly 25,000 clients and $5 billion in client accounts, blooom was acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2022. As an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, he led the integration and expansion of the blooom technology for eventually millions of employees across the country.

In May 2024 Chris launched his 3rd Financial Services firm – Curtis Capital Advisors, named after his father who passed away in 2012. Curtis Capital Advisors is a boutique investment advisory firm dedicated to serving a select limited clientele of friends, family, and professional associates.

Ian Campbell

Partner

Ian, originally from the picturesque town of Cimarron, Kansas, is a testament to the adage “small town, big dreams.” Graduating from Kansas State University in 2008, he left an indelible mark on the football field as part of the Wildcats team – rising from walk-on player to a two-time Captain. Ian’s remarkable journey saw him clinch the Black Lion Award twice, secure the title of Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, earn All-American honors in two of his final three seasons, and qualify as a finalist for the Hendricks Award – given to college football’s best Defensive End.

Since putting down roots in Kansas City in 2010, Ian has embraced the joys of family life alongside his wife, Kasha, and their sons, Cade and Crosby. Outside of work, Ian can be found perfecting his swing on the golf course or crafting woodwork masterpieces in his downtime.

In 2019, Ian transitioned from entrepreneurship in the fitness and strength training industry to a career in financial advising. Over the past five years, he diligently built his client base, culminating in a pivotal moment in May 2024 when he ascended to the role of Partner at Curtis Capital Advisors. This boutique investment advisory firm specializes in providing tailored financial solutions to a limited clientele, including Ian’s esteemed network of friends, family, and professional connections.

In an ever-evolving financial landscape, Ian remains committed to staying abreast of the latest market trends and investment strategies. He provides proactive guidance and ongoing support to help his clients navigate changing circumstances and achieve their financial objectives.
